Having an intimate conversation with two of its longtime citizens was an exhilarating experience, one that I as a participant won’t soon forget.

I can picture these three men sitting on the bench looking at the pineapple fountain. Their stories are entertaining and informative. Trying to understand the Gullah language is fun whether it’s spoken or written and the author does a great job capturing the story as well as the characters telling the stories.
